Background
I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with my friend, Hélène Crowley, who studies music at Wilfrid Laurier University to help create animations to go along with her piano capstone performance detailing the talent and strength of women’s roles in the competitive worlds of the arts and sciences. I created 5 animations total and a poster to market the event. The performance featured music by all female composers Clara Schumann, Errollyn Wallen, Fanny Mendelssohn, Emily Doolittle, and Alexina Louie.
For each piece, I wanted to mesh the stories of the songs/composers/role models into one. This gave me the chance to experiment with different animation techniques and art styles. I used a variety of tools for this project, mainly consisting of Procreate and Photoshop to illustrate assets and After Effects, Premier Pro, and Procreate to animate.
